Company coming tomorrow evening sometime. We think. Not sure what time. Preparations are under way. Today was Operation Laundry. Tomorrow is Clean Like a Maniac.
The trick to having a clean house when company arrives is to do things early enough so that it gets done and you have time to brush your hair and sip on lemonade and look as though you only ever sit around sipping lemonade in a perfectly, or sufficiently (depending on the number of children involved) cleaned home. But you can’t do it so early that the lemonade is gone and the kids are high on the sugar from the lemonade and go mess things up.
Unless you have duct tape. Which I do.
And what about dinner? And how much? Here’s my plan: Make a big dish of Mediterranean Pepper Salad, add some bulgur wheat and cold sliced teriyaki chicken. Since your children will definitely not eat this, you’ll have plenty for when your company arrives. How simple can it get!
