I haven’t been blogging much lately because we’ve been really busy doing stuff.
When your husband works 60+ hours a week during the school year, not many projects get done.
And when the last four summers have been filled with moving, installing a kitchen, installing an office, and grad school—well, not many projects on a smaller scale get done then, either.
And when you finally have a summer free of big projects, if you are gone four weeks to various places, have company for one week, and need to devote a week to school planning, that leaves exactly two weeks in which you may work on all that has piled up for the last four years.
So while we are painting and re-pairing re-hanging and re-organizing, the kids are busy doing wonderfully bloggable things, but I honestly don’t have the time or energy to make a post about each one. And if I give only a sentence to all the funny things they do and say, it doesn’t come across as funny. So rather than recap everything that has happened, I’ll tell you one story.
About Nathaniel. Because he’s cute, and he doesn’t get much blog time.
When we set up our summer schedule, we wrote in that the kids and Mark would go outside from 9-10 to do some yard work together and then get some fun exercise, such as riding their bikes. It is much better to be outside at 9 a.m. than 3 p.m. The girls, however, don’t do much yard work, so they are mostly in the way. Nate solved the problem by taking them for rides in the wagon. Sweet boy. But that’s a lot of work, so he hooked the wagon to his scooter and scooted them around. Clever, yet the inventor in him didn’t rest there. The wagon is now hooked to his bicycle, which requires less effort to move. In the wagon is a towel to protect the girls from dirt and rust, and he fashioned a drink and snack station out of an Amazon book box so their drinks would remain upright. A napkin folded in the box holds their snacks, which he refills when they run low.
